Hinge Positioning Defaults

The My Setup > Hinge Defaults page in the Catalog/Drawing Properties allows you to specify whether hinge holes are present or not in the machining of doors.

If hinges are required, the default vertical positioning and quantity (up to 6) of hinges can be customised for the current job.

The Use Machine Hinges checkbox allows you to turn on/off this option to specify whether hinge holes are present or not in the machining of doors.

• If present, you can select the Hinged Side (Left or Right) and the Hinge Quantity (1-6) using the drop list.

Hinge Positions

There are up to six hinge positions that can be present. The options made available are dependent on the Hinge Quantity.

• For example, the image above has a Hinge Quantity of 2 and Position details are provided for the first 2 hinge positions.
• For the image below,  a Hinge Quantity of 6 has been selected and Position details are provided for the all 6 hinge positions.
  • Note that hinges are only enabled if a distance is entered in the edit box, and the Back Face can therefore be viewed in the Preview Pane or Machine Editor.

   

The distance of the upper and lower hinges can be set from either...

• Measure From Top - if checkbox ticked, measures distance From Top of door down to the centre of the Hinge Cup;
  • e.g. Hinge [2] measures a distance of 100mm down From Top to the centre of the Hinge Cup;
  or
• Measure From Bottom - if checkbox unticked, measures distance From Bottom of door up to the centre of the Hinge Cup;
  • e.g. Hinge [1] measures a distance of 100mm up From Bottom to the centre of the Hinge Cup;

Hinges Setup : Machining Specs

The My Setup > Hinges Setup page in the Catalog/Drawing Properties allows you to set the setback, spacing, depth, diameter and layer names.

 

Hinge Lug and Cup Specs

The images below compares the default Machining Properties shown above with the Preview Pane...

• the Cup Setback is 10mm;
• the Lug Setback is 9.5mm;
• the Lug Spacing is 48mm.

Machining Properties

The images below compares the default Machining Properties with the Preview Pane...

• the Cup Diameter is 35mm - compare Cup with image above;
• the Cup Depth is 8mm;
• the Lug Diameter is 5mm - compare Cup with image below;
• the Lug Depth is 5mm.

Hinge Layer Names

In the above two images above, you will notice that the preview pane states Layer=lug and Layer=cup.
