My Setup > Drawers page in the Catalog/Drawing Properties allows you to set up the important factors in correctly sizing a door when it is to be made into drawers.

 

Cutter [Layer]

The Layer name for the tool used to cut the drawer bank into its component drawers (used if the router is used to cut the bank up) unless there are rounded corners.

Saw Blade Thickness

Allows you to specify the saw blade thickness used to cut up Drawer Banks into its component drawers.

Gap Between Drawers

The Gap dimension is required for calculating the size of drawer fronts. If the Included in Heights checkbox is ticked, then the gap between the drawer fronts is included in the dimensions of the finished 'door'.

Gaps between drawers are essential for clearance, allowing them to open and close smoothly without jamming due to wood expansion, overfilling or because the cabinet is out of square, while also providing space for drawer slides, finger grips, and dust control.

These gaps (often 2 to 5mm) for drawer fronts but larger for the internal box space, ensure functionality and prevent items from getting caught, creating a necessary buffer for movement and airflow in cabinetry.

Half Stiles Set Height

A half stiles drawer refers to a design aesthetic used in a bank of stacked drawers where the horizontal pieces (rails) between the drawers appear half the width of the vertical pieces (stiles) at the sides and the top/bottom edges.

If the Use checkbox is ticked, then the height edit box is made available to customise the height.
